for the 2003 Seventh Annual ChristyFestTM

In Townsend: The Seventh Annual ChristyFestTM will take place in  Townsend, Tennessee during July 24-27th, 2003. Enjoy the celebration  of the series/movies "Christy" based on the novel "Christy" by  Catherine Marshall. Meet other fans, mingle with cast and crew  of the series,  learn more about the book, series and  time period.

A remarkable American phenomenon continues in July, as fans of renown  writer Catherine Marshall gather in Townsend, Tennessee to celebrate  her classic novel, "Christy," as well as the late, lamented CBS  television series and Pax Network movies of the same name. The annual  ChristyFestTM attracts fans of all ages, including entire families.  They have the opportunity to mingle with their favorite actors and  experience the Great Smoky Mountains where the CBS series was filmed  and near where the real life story, upon which the novel was based  took place.

Loosely based on the experiences of her mother, Lenora Wood, Catherine Marshall's novel follows the fictional adventures of Christy  Huddleston, an innocent 19 year old that leaves her privileged  Asheville North Carolina life in 1912 to teach at a Smoky Mountain  Mission School. The internationally acclaimed best-selling book and  television productions chronicle the spirituality of the people of  Cutter Gap, as well as the difficulties or their isolated mountain  lives.
